April is a month when many Korean companies pay dividend to shareholders. HMC, a global car maker also plans to pay dividend to its shareholders. If you are a HMC shareholder wanting to know how much dividend will be given and when, this post is for you. 

HMC has 4 different shares which are: common stock, preferred stock, 2 preferred stock B and 3 preferred stock B. Common stocks are ordinary stocks with the rights to involve in the management of the company. The three preferred stocks wave management rights but receive slightly more dividend than normal ones. The four stocks come in different prices.

• Common stocks: KRW 180,500
• Preferred stocks: KRW 86,700
• 2 Preferred stocks B: KRW 87,500
• 3 Preferred stocks B: KRW 85,400

Amount and Payment Date 2022

The Korean car maker pays dividend twice a year, April and August. April dividend is called the end-term dividend, August interim dividend. Usually interim dividend is smaller than the end-term one, about KRW 1,000. 

The dividend of the Korean OEM will be paid on April 22, 2022. The amount will be transferred to your account after tax which is 15.4% of amount you receive. The amount of four stocks' dividends are:

• Common stocks: KRW 4,000
• Preferred stocks: KRW 4,050
• 2 Preferred stocks B: KRW 4,100
• 3 Preferred stocks B: KRW 4,050

There are some shareholders who believe the dividend should be at least KRW 7,500. But manufacturing industry requires significant amount of investment which holds the car maker from paying out shareholders big time. Don't be discouraged yet. Because HMC has large demands for its products, the shareholders may keep their hopes up.
